I did Iris reticulata, Anemone White Splendour, Narcissus Tete a Tete and T. Ronaldo for my sister, in a tall terracotta pot with some Carex Ice Dance chucked on top... it worked out pretty well, maybe because the smallest bulbs emerged first.
"What is hateful to you, do not do to your neighbour".
That's the general way it works @WillDB, but there has to be enough bulbs in the pot to keep it looking right over a period of time. A big, wide pot is what most people choose, and then they don't fill it up enough, so each 'layer' is sparse. You've probably done a much better job with having a tall pot, and having the grass helps with the appearance too.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I bought a premade bulb lasagna mix last year as a test and it flowered nicely for about three months. I put them in a large oval shaped zinc bucket...which was probably bigger that it had to be. This year I'll concentrate on filling my summer urns with bulbs and also converting a very narrow planting area into a bulb display with irises, narcissi and anemones as it's too much trouble getting parennials to behave in that space. And then make it an a display of colourful annuals for the warmer months. Nice to try different things every year.
I've just got a few packs of Narcissus Thalia and some Iris reticulata from B&M. Tulip Ronaldo from B&M were great last year so I may get some of those if I decide to do pots of bulbs as gifts. Trouble is it ends up a rather expensive gift when you factor in the pot, compost, gravel mulch and a little evergreen to go on the top...
The colour of Jimmy has come out well along with these blood red wallflowers but think I'll give Peter Nyssen a go for sure next year. There's a fair height difference between 2 of the pots and some of the blooms seem a bit on the small side for 11/12 bulbs.
Most of the Queen of Night are still to come out though so will see how they seem.
The rest of the Queen of Night weren't up to much unfortunately. One good pot at the very back but that was it.
Along with Peter Nyssen I've been looking at Farmer Gracy and they have a lot of 12+ bulbs. Not cheap but there's a 20% discount code for all of June in June's GW magazine which makes it look like a no brainer.
Planted my 180 tulip bulbs today. Ended up going with Farmer Gracy back in the summer and most of the bulbs were suitably fat compared to my previous purchases.

Looking forward to April/May!
