    Wilco are good.
i also buy from J. Parker,  loads to choose from, 10% discount and lots on special offer.
Big bargain bags as well if need to plant a lot.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

  • I love all De Jäger plants and bulbs. I have some Tulips coming this month. Bulb size is amazing and great quality.

I would give a thumbs up for Peter Nyssen too.

That's the Dutch bulbs website in my first post.

I've bought from Sarah Raven and J.Parker Wholesale, both sell good varieties although I don't think J.Parker Wholesale can be beaten on price. Depends on how many you want to buy. I buy a couple of hundred Narcissus and Tulips every year.

I've gone off piste, was all set to use Peter Nyssen then I happened to glance at the bulbs in b and q.

    120 tulips
    50 Tete e Tete daffodils
    75 snakes head fritillary

    £42 and that's with 11/12 tulips.

Very tasteful selection I must say!

I've just got a few packs of Narcissus Thalia and some Iris reticulata from B&M. Tulip Ronaldo from B&M were great last year so I may get some of those if I decide to do pots of bulbs as gifts. Trouble is it ends up a rather expensive gift when you factor in the pot, compost, gravel mulch and a little evergreen to go on the top...

That is true, best make it count with bulbs that'll keep coming back!

I'm going to try some of the fritillaries in pots as well. Going with a simpler approach this year with only one type of bulb per pot for effect.

Results with 'lasagne' plantings have been mixed at best for me.

Will still need to get crocuses too and have them in permanent pots.

I only ever do single type to a pot @Dirty Harry.  Far more impact.
I've yet to see one of those layered plantings that looks half decent.
Thalia is one of my favourites. Silver Chimes is quite similar - but not always so readily available for some reason. It's very pretty too.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
