Is there anywhere in Britain that isn't under a flight path?

I'd take a bit of aircraft noise over barking dogs, screaming kids or loud music any day of the week.

No planes, no kids, no barking dogs, no near neighbours, no traffic = bliss.
At one point I moved down to England to work - bought a house in my first housing estate - couldn't get over the noise the neighbours made. You could hear lawn mowers and kids from streets away!

Thanks for all the comments. I’ve been hiking around Sussex for a few weeks, so away from my computer. 20 mins from Gatwick there is astonishingly little plane noise (I’m to the South West, near Horsham). I had assumed planes would circle over the airport and keep holding patterns here, but I am hardly seeing or hearing anything. I know it is louder not far away at East Grinstead.

From the comments it seems certain parts of Scotland, Wales and Scandinavia win hands down in terms of plane noise. Not much surprise there then. I’m camping in a tree*, by a lake and it’s so glorious to hear nothing but water, wind and birds.  For me, living smack under a flight path, near a busy intercity train line, by a huge music venue, with sirens, helicopters and trail bikes everywhere, just isn’t doable. At all. Good to realise how much of an issue it is. It’s driving me loopy.

Overdue time to take action on this.

*i’m on a platform over a lake amongst low growing oaks. It feels like being in a tree house, especially with the groaning branches with this high wind.

OH did her PhD on Loch Lomond at Rowardennan, a very peaceful environment. When out on the loch in a small rowing boat she used to get buzzed by fighter jets who used her for "target practice" when doing low level high speed training. She nearly fell out of the boat first few times it happened but then got used to it.

We live on the edge of Bath and get the Bristol airport planes going over regularly, last one about midnight and first one about 5 am (I think). We are also near the main hospital so get the occasional siren/emergency helicopter landing and also near a farm so get tractors back and forth.  Despite all that, quite often it is very peaceful and quiet here which we love.
