OK. I tried growing vegetables but I'm too squeamish to eat them.

Do you know why she swallowed the fly?

This matter is still under investigation.
A murder enquiry will be instigated following her demise.
We are not too concerned at the moment as she appears to have a healthy appetite and is eating well.

I think you should keep her well away from horses. Just in case

    That would be wise.

My son-in-law tells me that insects are the trending protein source at the moment!  Apparently they have become de rigeur as snacks at his office - I just wonder if it isn't some macho thing like burning rubber and pressing benches (that doesn't look right, oh well, whatever it is) being able to say "Mmmm those crickets are just so tasty"

I wondered what was coming after the vegan diet. I think I'll give this one a miss too.

Me too @B3, people say 'but you don't know what you're missing!' and sometimes I know ignorance is the way.

It is a shame about your own veg problem, I am biased toward veg rather than flowers I admit but I love growing my own food. Provenance and all that.

Tried insect bars, so so bitter. Just to gross you all out even more, you know that in America there are allowable limits for insect/rodent parts in flour and other ingredients?

I think this whole conversation shows how detached we have become as a society from our food and how it is grown. Yes there will be bugs in or on food no matter where it was grown, we've been eating them accidentally for millennia they won't do you any harm especially when well cooked.

That's what I was thinking too. Skandi. Allowables in milk are best not thought about either

To remove any bugs from vegetables just soak them in salted water for a few minutes, and then rinse.  Job done.  I would love to think the original post was a joke, but sadly don't think it is.
