Our neighbour used the country term ā€˜pigs’ for wood lice. It did amuse us when she said she wanted to put down powder to stop pigs getting in under her back door.

    Ā :DĀ

It's jiggypiggs isn't it - that term for woodlice? Or have I got that wrong?Ā  :)

We have had a rash of cellar spiders this year, the ones got up to look like daddy long legs. They’re particularly stupid creatures because we don’t have a cellar so they kick their heels on the upstairs bedroom ceilings instead.Ā
Maybe they think you're stupid for having a cellar on the top floor. You'll probably see them lurking in corners and giggling at you.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Do you think they point fingers at the same time @wild edges, or, since they only have legs would it be toes?Ā  ;)

I seem to be losing the plot. I think I need to get outside now....

There are lots of names for (what I call) woodlice.

Can't think of anything to curmudge about. My neighbour's trees maybe, but I can't be bothered.

My FIL calls them "Cheesy wotsits".Ā  He comes from the South East,Ā  so l'm guessing it's a more modern take on the cheesy bugs description.Ā
Had to laugh at the thought of spiders pointing and laughing.....need to think of something to make me feel curmudgeonly.Ā

Spiders know it's rude to point. The granny granshers taught them well.

2 vine weevils last night and 2 more tonight. They just keep coming :|

There's a nice clear moon though and I'm enjoying spending time with the nocturnal wildlife in the garden. I even heard a whisper of wings low overhead which I hope was an owl. I can hear them chatting away to each other all around the estate at the moment.

    Loving that map @LG_ :D
I think we need to be more inventive up here with the names. I'm particularly liking all the 'cheesy' ones, Billy Buttons,Ā  @wild edges ' Granny Granshers, and best of all - Crunchy BatsĀ  :D

Not too sure about Pishamares and Nutbugs. Surely you can get antibiotics for those?
