I went to pick up my armchair just now. The seller was very vague about directions though. I thought this was because of security reasons but it turns out it's just because they're useless. It turns out the road was closed half way down and I had to call them to see which side of the closure they were. The guy told me I was the wrong side and I'd have to detour back 2 miles to get to the other side. "Sorry I should probably have warned you"...

To make it worse his house was only 20 metres past the closure and we could have walked the chair past rather than me driving all the way around. "Oh yeah I didn't think about that".

It is very comfy though :)

I'm sorry, I was trying really hard not to mention him. But I'm feeling extremely curmudgeonly about, well, fascism & stuff. And I don't choose that word lightly.

Ugh. Sorry. Ignore me. It's been a bit of a day.

Doesn't it just peeve you when your clematis miss your roses?😡
I know the roses will flower again, but not with the same exuberance. They would've  looked so good together.
    How provoking!

I found out today why my 10 year old clematis never grew very well - it was sitting on a slab of concrete approximately 2ft wide x 2ft + deep - part of fortification of a retaining wall. Apparently the slab runs right underneath a narrow border in the courtyard so I won't be able to plant any more climbers.

Now that's annoying @Lizzie27.  Can you plant something outside the slab?

Unfortunately not, @B3, the border's only about 1 ft or so wide, so the concrete runs underneath. Still, I have put the clematis in a big pot and could stand this in the border against the fence. My lime green heucheras are surviving however and I might get some ferns that like dry shade. A new opportunity!

I'm happy about the rain, but peeved that I can't play with my new hose.

So it was thee and me buying new hoses that triggered the rain then @B3 🌧
