I missed the section with the judges but Monty saying that gardens aren't judged against each other was a timely reminder.  As I understand it, there is a brief on the broad 'theme' required for the gardens and the designers put forward their plans.  The medal depends as much on how closely the end result matches those plans as anything.  A garden can be stunning but marked down for failing on that aspect.
I also liked the conversation about the Yorkshire Garden.  Is it a garden at all?

Not a fan of AT ... he knows his stuff and he used to be ok but he’s become excruciatingly obsequious when interviewing folk ... shame.
Was he the one who "gave a lot of ladies a great deal of pleasure" according to the Queen? :)

@KT53 , one of the judges, James Alexander-Sinclair (?) mentioned that the way one of the designers had worded his brief meant that he was marked down. I think it was for the Chilean style garden. They have to be so careful when it comes to the wording. Also next year it will be even more difficult to obtain a Gold medal (apparently), the number of points required is going up from 28 to 30. He didn't have time to elaborate.

Seems they think it's too easy to earn gold for some people and they want that to change

Agree about AT going off in recent years.  Used to love his ability to communicate the joys of plants and gardening but not now he's gone all syrupy.

Haven't seen the daytime shows yet but was very pleased to learn there is a new team.  Nikki C is all ditzy blonde which I hope is an act but I don't like it.

As for the general make-up of presenters they seem to be from all sorts of backgrounds which can bring its own richness to the coverage - if they get it right.  I don't care where they're from or what they look like if they can do the job.

I don't understand where you are coming from OAM. One moment you are talking about the BBC's political correctness, and then you are praising them.
How can you lie there and think of England
When you don't even know who's in the team

I was praising them for having political correctness if that's OK with you. It seems I may have worded it incorrectly for you to grasp my meaning. I'm very sorry if I offended you punk

Won't it be wonderful when choosing the best person for a job becomes the norm and not motivated by quotas or PC-ness and they get equal pay for equal work or skills.

    Dream on Obxx!

Wouldn't it just!  I dislike discrimination, full stop.  Positive discrimination is just as bad as any other form as it reduces the opportunity for another grouping.
