I don't object at all to people earning lots of money. I'd prefer it if they paid a fair amount of tax. I just think that the people on the biggest salaries are often not the ones who's ability has the greatest value. Whilst in theory I don't pay footballers' salaries, actually I do pay my TV license, so I am contributing to them

My lifelong despair has been the financial inequality between craftsperson and salesperson.  Despair turns to desperation as the craftsperson is gradually replaced by machines - still waiting for the sales robot  :(

The top 1% of earners pay 28% of UK income tax receipts; the top 10% pay 60%.

I don’t feel I have any right to say what taxes are spent on seeing as I don’t pay any.

Have you never been 'encouraged' to use self-service tills in shops and supermarkets?  Surely they are the sales robots.

I have no problem with anybody earning incredibly high amounts for doing their job.  Which amongst us would refuse if somebody offered us silly amounts to do a job.  If somebody is daft enough to offer, I'm certainly not daft enough to turn it down - as long as it's legal.

I don't have children, should I have to pay tax for education?
    Of course I should.

I do pay £200.00 a month council tax so I suppose that counts towards local amenities?

Ah @KT53, the self service till  :(  Despite a life long career with computers I can never swipe a whole shop without some assistance from a human being - which makes me very happy!

Also I see the till as a payment mechanism, salespeople I view more in the 'encouragement to buy' category.  If you have any tips for using social technology successfully I am all ears  :)
