TV presenters are NOT Gods, discuss.....
They present TV programmes, and may or may not be experts in the subject they present. They are not 'legends' living or otherwise. They have been fortunate in being in the right place at the right time, and there are probably people out there far more qualified to do the job but have never had the opportunity.

Nor do I mind the BBC making an effort to have presenters who reflect the diversity in the country. Sometimes, though, I feel balance can lead to a diminution in quality. Radio 4’s latest episode of the News Quiz was a case in point; I thought it was very poor.
As for presenters being Gods, that’s a bit harsh. So long as they convey the subject with enthusiasm, clarity and bring out the best in experts if they are not experts themselves then I feel my licence fee is not wasted. Monty Don does a great job, in my view. I am not bothered that he is not a trained gardener. John Arlott was no cricketer but, for many, he was the doyen of commentators. I bet Will Gompertz can’t paint, act or write plays but he writes about the Arts with elegant accessibility.
I agree with you KT53 when you say these people are lucky - right place, right time. I don’t begrudge them their good fortune. That’s fine by me. Sometimes the ‘talent’ is lost on me. I find nothing of value in Keith Lemon’s work, for example, but others like him so I’ll just have to shut up.
Finally, just one contentious observation. People get annoyed by the salaries paid to presenters, managing directors and so on and I agree with KT53 that there are many others out there who could do the job equally well. With professional footballers, however, there most definitely are not loads out there who could take on the role. They perform week in week out under the scrutiny of fans and the cameras. If they’re not up to the task they’re out. Meanwhile they are paid what the market will stand. That’s what comes from living in a market economy.
Something of value gets lost on TV.
There's a difference between presenters, journalists (Monty being a journalist) and news readers and 'celebrities'. Some presenters like to think of themselves as celebrities and expect me to be interested in their lives when they aren't presenting. I'm not.
