@Obelixx Completely agree. And with absolutely no sport, they may as well :D

I don't think they were. I suspect that was a few rehashed bits and unused footage put together with a voiceover that Monty could do remotely. They film - what - 2 weeks ahead, 3 maybe? So the first episode was filmed before restrictions. Maybe they had an idea then what was coming so filmed some extra bits at the time and then edited it together. Since then they've had time to get a plan together. Perhaps Adam's place is closer to a local film team. Certainly the website is saying the next 2 episodes will be from his garden. I would guess they're going to do the same thing - film two episodes worth of Adam and then put it together with films already made and some stuff from previous years to make the next couple of shows.

I'm glad they're keeping it on air - there will be plenty of people on enforced gardening leave who have never watched it and who need some ideas and some help - even if regular viewers have seen it before.

    Good effort GW Team :)
I wonder if using Adam could also be to do with him being younger, and that Monty has had some prior health issues thus more at risk? Umm

The filming of Monty did seem a few weeks behind because I would think most snowdrops dropped their flowers weeks back. Mine did

I forgot it was even on. The Sky thing didn't pick it up either.
Maybe they're trying to  tell me something  :D

I did put it on after a flick through the channels, but it was really just background noise.
I don't often watch it nowadays, as so much isn't relevant to me anyway timewise, but they could show back episodes for those still needing guidance on certain things, surely?

Alan Titchmarsh's "How to be a Gardener" as mentioned by Obelixx, would be ideal.
With so many people looking out of their windows thinking "Where the heck do l start", it could be really useful .

Very likely. Carol's in her 70s, Rachel and Monty both have health issues. We may see more of Adam, Nick Bailey and Frances Tophill this year - although I guess Frances won't be able to go to her allotment. Does Nick Bailey have a garden of his own?

Public service broadcasting is classed as 'essential' - but I guess they'd need to focus on growing fruit and veg and home gardens - rather than grand ones - for it to count.

If they are planning on showing old footage wouldn't it be better to show older episodes like mentioned like goeff Hamilton chances are we have not seen them for years or never seen them, BBC you have no excuses.

Is there a copyright issue? I remember a letter in the Radio Times some time ago asking about showing a drama from a good while back. The answer was that the BBC no longer had the right to screen it and that anyway, the fees and payments to all the people involved would be so complex as to rule it out. I don't know if this would apply to Gardeners' World from so long ago.

I think it is a public service and keeping people from going mad indoors is essential - this one programme seen by how many thousands? 👍

I liked the snowdrops, considered planting the magnolia ballerina but it hangs too low, liked the dahlia farmer and his granddaughter, and the jobs for the weekend.
