Seep hoses being considered here too LG purely because it will be possible to connect them to a timer so I don't have to stand there with a hose or waste water when the sprinkler goes wider than I need and can do it after the heat of the day so the plants have all night to soak up the moisture.
The summer after we moved here I went to see a renowned organic veggie garden here to see how they managed and discovered their secret to growing sweetcorn, squashes and tomatoes is very simple - slightly raised beds so they can hide seep hoses (not very well) under chippings. I was expecting soil prep and mulches and maybe shade netting but it was all very low tech.

That’s fab Dove - some goodies in there! Had a txt from my Sister this evening “something by your front door”... I went out and there was a beautiful angel pelargonium plant! A congratulations gift from her. Chuffed to bits with it - I have just potted it up and it can take the prime position on the patio, right by the French doors so I can see it from inside too. Shattered after gardening and visiting today, so off to bed now. Night all.
MESSAGE FROM HOSTA ... He says ‘Hi’ to all ... please excuse his absence ... he is really really really really busy at the moment. Will pop in when he can. 😊

That's a good haul, Dove.
I've been planting up pots again, and planted the outside tomatoes, courgettes and also herbs in the new herb bed.
