    Morning all.

Glad Lily is better but sorry about your knee Lily P.

So much to do outside I hardly know where to begin. Must hang out the washing first. Got off to a late start this morning. Read my book too long in bed!

    Hi all.

Lovely sunny day, both of us have been in the garden since early doors. Moira helping this year, has been a great help, I almost hope she doesn't get a job.
Tomorrow is a special day and I am told I need to keep the day free.

Hope you are not too sore @Lily Pilly

I hesitate to mention this @Pat E, but some people find CBD, the non psychoactive component of cannabis very useful for treating your husbands problem. it is legal in the UK., but I don't know about in Australia.

Thanks Punkdoc. I’m not sure if it’s legal here or not. Will try the tabs for now and see how he goes. 😉 it’s worth thinking about though.

Ps, where’s Hosta?  Is he on holiday again?

OK, that makes sense Obxx. Less daunting than it originally sounded, but still quite beyond me!

I've been watering the little plants I've put round all the street trees in our road. I hope *something* survives, but the lack of available soil plus the drought conditions are making it a bit of a struggle. Sowed a load of alyssum the other day and they've germinated already, so I'll add those as ground cover when they're a bit bigger.

Happy Birthday for tomorrow, punkdoc

Phew it's hot out there. Everything  is bone dry. Does anyone here use an irrigation system (leaky pipe or other) for their garden? Not pots, the garden itself. I'm starting to think it would be more water-efficient and better for the plants than my irregular guilty sorties with a watering can. Haven't done any research yet, and suspect it would be too expensive, but just wondering.

I have a soaker hose along the Shady Bank as although it’s shady it’s raised up and the soil is free draining so the Clematis, honeysuckle and hostas can suffer in hot dry spells. I only put it on for a couple of hours in the evenings when required. Seems to do the job.

Could you set up a perforated hose [disguised under the soil or a mulch] with a simple timer, LG? Just for the bits which would need it most. It shouldn't be too costly, and probably a saving on water and bills, if you have those water charges. Not something I've ever had to consider here, but I think more people will be doing it if these long dry spells become more regular in so many areas.

    21 again, doc?  ;)
