    Lovely little tomatoes.

Take the shoot at the base off ...  I’d scrape a little compost away and cut it off as close to the stem as possible. It’ll take nutrition etc from the rest of the plant.

  • Once again I appreciate your advice Dove, I will remove the shoot.

Do you think my San Marzano's have a problem, the leaves are curling under themselves?

Vigorous new growth often looks like that - nothing to worry about.  Rich soil or overfeeding can also look similar, so check you aren't feeding too much.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • Thanks Bob, perhaps it's the soil. I'm not feeding them but I am using veg soil from Tommy topsoil which is a local seller to myself.
Apparently its award winning and I filled my bed with it. So maybe it should just be mixed in to a bed but i filled my bed with it.

The trusses have set nice and low and there isn't an overabundance of leafy growth, so I'd say the soil and plants are both fine.  The roots will have really got going now and I think you are just seeing them growing rapidly. :)

  • That's wonderful news Bob, I was a little upset to think I had a disease after all the nurturing so far.
    Thank you for your knowledge:)
  • Not sure what size they're meant to be but this is my second.
The first I left on the plant a little longer and it rotted at the tip.

Is there anything I should know or be doing?

It probably hasn't been pollinated. Do you have both sets of flowers?

That one looks fine ... it looks like a Courgette ‘Romanesco’ ... the sort I grew last year and am growing again this year. Great flavour and texture. You can pick them from ‘finger size’ upwards to small marrow size, although if you leave them to get that large it does discourage the plant from making new ones, so I try not to do that until it’s getting towards the end of the season.  However the leafy growth on the plants can be so lush that you sometimes find a courgette lurking underneath and growing into a marrow!
