Dove means actual fruit. I've been trying to work out how much I water as it's usually by eye, but about 1/2 litre per plant each day when hot every other day when not. It's difficult to say when you do it by eye usually.🤔
  • OK Dove, sounds like I have been overdoing it then. Firstly I'll let them dry out and then give them less.
If I'm lucky I may just keep them going long enough to get some tomatoes:)

I'm really looking forward to making some sauces with the San marzano

San Marzano are really nice, you’ll enjoy those.

Unless you’re growing bush varieties, you need to remove those little sideshoots appearing in the axils of the leaves ...

  • Thanks Dove, that was one thing I was aware of but wasn't sure how early to grab them. Is it asap, sometimes they appear too small to deal with.

I nip them out with my finger and thumbnail (if I have any left after weeding etc) ASAP  Best done in the morning as the plant tissues are firmer then and less likely to tear.

As soon as you see them is best.
