My push mower is around 10 years old now. It gets cleaned and oiled from time to time and I expect it to outlive me. No motor so not much to go wrong if it isn't mistreated .
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
Depends on what you call a lawnmower with all the bells and whistles and how much abuse its going to get and how well its looked after, top of the range domestic lawnmower should last at least 10 years + , pro machine 10-15 + years but it really does depend on how its treated.
I have a old john deere its 22years and it out quite often but will be used 5-6 days a week all day and it still going parts are very expensive now, I wouldn't have a new one at the moment they dont make them like they used to do.
Used a John deere ride on for a client not bad when its fine and dry but absolutely useless when its wet / damp , I had to turn the damp thing over once cause it were so clogged up, ended up using the pedestrian mowers .

That's my experience with my JD . If the grass is bone dry, the ground dead level, the grass is never more than about 2" long, ever I'm sure it'd be fine. On my Devon lush growing grass on a slope which is rained on regularly , it's a pile of plap.
