Had a quiet day here. Moved a potted rose to a prime position next to my seat by the back door. I hope it thrives this year - only had it as a cutting last Summer and it’s from the garden of the GP who looked after my Mum so it is a bit special.

Hope you have all enjoyed the Bank Holiday.

Your rosa filipes?   Either way, I'd be fuming too and on the warpath.

Keep a note and a photo of all damaged trees and shrubs and property and send them the bill, copied to whichever bit of the council is responsible and your insurers.

The Rosa filipes are three plants I grew from seed about 15 years ago and then planted them in the Orchard. They were running up a wild cherry tree.  They were not on my land , but planted there with authorisation from the now previous owner.  Councillors are coming round tomorrow.  I have lots of photos.

Commiserations Fidget - that's a shocking way to behave. I hope you can get the perpetuators for criminal damage to your shrubs.

We have a similar row going on near us by a developer who reckoned he could cut the whole local wood down without anybody noticing. He's stirred up the whole neighbourhood.

@Lizzie27 just seen that on twitter - he got planning permission refused despite the destruction.  Some serious consequences needed methinks 😮

I planted out my broad beans yesterday. The soil is pretty dry, although I puddled them in well.
Well I better get dressed. Today should be interesting. I think I know who the developers are now, even though the tame gorillas wielding chainsaws are being pretty cagey.

I spoke to my sister last night. 2 weeks ago she was in the hotel in Colombo which was hit by one of the bombs.
