I started the thread a few years ago and deliberately entitled it 'jam jar posies' for lots of reasons - everyone has a jam jar; everyone will have enough in bloom at any one time to fill a jam jar; I wanted it to be a casual thrown-together arrangement so that people weren't put off; and lastly, it's all about what is in bloom in your garden at that time so we can see the differences in location and climate, not whether it is colour co-ordinated or artfully arranged.
I know, @hogweed, I’ve been reading previous threads. But I don’t want people to be put off because it needs to be a jam jar. I find that jars have a too wide opening for the height and amount of flowers I usually have. And there’s no reason to discourage people from thinking about colours, arrangements etc... Why can’t all approaches be welcome?
I apologise if in any way I’ve given you offence by opening this year’s thread. If it helps, please feel free to open a new thread and we can close this one.
My little contribution all ready for our birthday tea this afternoon.not much in flower so had to make do with the last of the pansies and some bits and bobs.
Marne la vallée, basically just outside Paris 🇫🇷, but definitely Scottish at heart.
Dr Jamain, first year of flowering. An amazing array of colours on one plant, from bright, fuchsia pink bud, to dark red, cherry, purple and magenta flowers. But nothing like the colour I have seen online. Astonishing scent. Planted in the shady end of a north facing garden. The plant seems to be growing happily. No black spot yet.
Pilgrim, first year flowering after a move this spring. Looks very happy. Again, quite a shady spot. (Below) The challenge will be to get it grow over an arch before 2040.
Niphetos, (below) probably my favourite rose. Entirely elegant, amazing scent, the colour of clotted cream. With first year flowering valerian officianalis - entirely loved by all sorts of pollinators (which is why I put it in).
I looked up rather than down today so this is 'Pretty in Pink' - Cornus kousa which makes a delightful small tree, valerian, bit of wallflower and clematis 'Marjorie' which is stunning. I thought I had lost it back when we had that really hard winter but sawed it back to a stump about 4 years ago and it has now covered a 20+foot length of wall.

First sweet peas of the year, from seed sown on new year’s day. And some poppies that were damaged by the heavy rain.
Collected and arranged by my 4 year old daughter 😁
A random persicaria in there which really shouldn’t be around yet. The clematis was on its way out. No way I’m letting her touch the fresh flowers!
