My OH buys those spreads Dove, the olive oil ones, and his mum buys the soya type. Personally l prefer butter any day, those spreads always taste a bit "chemically" to me. I made the point about the long best before dates on them, but he pointed out that the butter has a fairly long date as well (curses !). I just think butter's more natural. Most days we have banana or blueberries at breakfast, grapes and/or pears as a dessert, and at least one type of veg with our evening meal. Tonight is fish and chips - potatoes = veg, right ? but with sweetcorn as well.
Nah - Dove's right, Anni. Taters don't count unfortunately, and I think chips, or the 'Glasgow salad' [as steephill rightly calls 'em! ] are a definite no no...
I love a bit of mash, but I have to curb it. Could easily eat a whole plateful
I think it's a bit like the whole plastic debate. People start to feel demonised about what they're eating. Wee bit of common sense needs to be applied when these things are trotted out. If people cut down on the processed junk, and the stuff we all know isn't good for us, ate a bit less and exercised a bit more, that would be beneficial for the majority.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
IMHO, there's no such thing as " junk food". If you have a big mac once a year, or a kebab about the same, and you have a wonderfully balanced diet the rest of the time , surely the burger and kebab are just part of that balance? I'm sure if you'd be ill if all you ate was steak, or salad , or oysters but nobody calls them "junk"
That's what I meant Hosta. I don't see any issue with that at all - it's when people are eating that kind of food regularly, and in large amounts, that it becomes a problem. Balance is exactly what is needed. We eat pizza and fish suppers etc like everyone else. We ain't no saints

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
