I grew mange tout last year @Fairygirl ... despite the difficult season we got a good crop (still a couple of mealsworth in the freezer) but they were earlyish so we still had water in the butts for them. This year I’ve been seduced by Douce Provence (think it was the name wot dunnit ☺️). It’s years since I’ve grown ‘proper peas’ ... we’ll see how they go ...

Morning all. Greyish and dampish here. Off to the shops this morning to get some birthday presents, need to get some seed potatoes too - was planning to get them before but all the hospital stuff waylaid me a bit. I'm such a creature of habit - I'm not doing anything I usually do on the days I usually do them this week and it's thrown me completely - no idea what day it is or what I'm supposed to be doing. If I didn't put everything (and I mean *everything*) in my calendar I honestly don't know what I'd do. Sit at home saying "Wibble", probably.
Enjoy tidying the GH, BL. Hope the sun shines on you. Stay warm everyone (except Pat. Stay cool, Pat).
Right - up & at 'em.

Morning all. Happy new month! (Especially Chicky... )
Great St David's Day portrait - thanks for the link, AuntyRach.
Andre Previn was very special. A musical genius who embraced pop and jazz as well as classical music, without dumbing down the serious stuff.
Woke up with a headache this morning. Think I got altogether too enthusiastic yesterday... morning in the park, where we cleared ivy, expanded poystyrene, dog poo bags (with contents... ), crisp packets, degrading bubble wrap and builder's rubble to expose a triangular shady bed. We also found a path! - buried under 6" of leaf mould. Then in the afternoon I took a leaf out of a neighbour's book; he was having a bonfire, so I reckoned if I burnt some rubbish in my incinerator, nobody would suffer from the slightly increased smoke. 22 bags of burnt garden waste later... and I can now get into my 5ft x 7ft shed. Bit tired though.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Liri - did you ever see the prog he did with Oscar Peterson? Two geniuses together in one show. Unforgettable. He would have been 90 in April. Take it easy today - that sounds like around three days work you did. LG - As long as you're not putting your pants on your head and putting the pencils up your nose, it's all fine
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I had a go at the veg patch but my arms objected 😭
OH says he’ll do it in a bit . I’ll make him a lovely ox cheek casserole with carrots and celery ... just the weather for it ... shall I make some parsley & chive dumplings to pop on top? The chives are up in the garden and there’s a good clump of overwintered parsley out there

Hi all. The next part of the tree saga has begun. Tree surgeon turned up to chop the branches of my Yew "overhanging" the drive. I explained that there was a Mistle Thrush building a nest [ not true ], so he left and NDN has just been round shouting at me. A temporary stay of execution, but enjoyable none the less.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Morning all, OH had a reasonably comfortable night. Too much previous experience I fear, this is the third time she has broken a wrist. Cabin fever will be the biggest problem in the next few weeks, she was due to swim 5k for the Swimathon at the end of the month and was training hard for it.
She trained me on how to use the Gaggia coffee machine after her last "break" a couple of years ago so I can at least provide a steady supply of her drug of choice I already do all the cooking and washing up so am nearly fully house trained. Just need training on recognising dust build up more than once a year and I will be fully domesticated.
Hi @punkdoc. Your colleague David Nott had me in tears this morning. Heroes, all of you ... absolute heroes 💖
Sorry your NDN is being a PITA again .... you can rise above the annoyance secure in the knowledge that he couldn’t be a hero any more than he could fly 👿

Morning all. Sunny periods, no frost. Shame about the lack of sun in Norfolk, OH arrived last night.
I must get on with cleaning out the GH today, still has last year's dead tomatoes in it!
