Staying awake until 2am is not a problem right now, 🙄 but getting up is becoming an issue. For me the onset of darker days and earlier nights has a knock on effect on my sleep pattern. So it's awake till 2am, up for half an hour between 3and 4, then asleep till 9am, which for me is too late, it feels like I have missed all the morning! I would usually help counteract this by upping my vitamin D to 1000, but since my health scare the doc has me on Ad-cal which has only 800, and now it's obviously not enough. 🤷♀️
My OH is at the stage where she doesn't want to live here anymore, but she doesn't want to move either. In some ways I understand, as I don't want to be in this town anymore, but I like our house. We've spent 22 years making this our home. It's not perfect, but down sizing will come with its own difficulties.
I think she's beginning to understand some of the hopelessness that I experienced three years ago. This world can be a dark place.
Thinking about these things at this time of night is unhelpful.
As you say, not helpful at this time of night, @rowlandscastle444. Do you find reading helps at all? I’ve always got a book ready on my iPad ( so I can read in the night without needing to turn the light on) Getting engrossed in that means I can push the bad thoughts away until hopefully daylight. I also like to do the logic puzzles on puzzlebaron, need to concentrate to do those. Lights out here, don’t know what we are still doing up at nearly midnight, it crept up on us. Hope you get some sleep.
Hi. I have slept. What happened? Woke up twice but went back to sleep. Was it the 6 hours in a coach?
@rowlandscastle444 . So sorry, just want to say that absolutely everybody has some kind of hesitation before a move, it's normal to have doubts. Are you going very far from where you are now? I avoid thinking about bad stuff by listening to Melvin Bragg 🙂
I'll admit that I DID get some sleep. Not enough, by far. I never feel it is. How many of us are like that? I hardly ever snooze in the day. Too much noise or disturbance. Neighbours, brain, wife - in that order. Still, a couple of hours is better than nothing - which is what those in war zones must get. Or those in pain. At least I have a bed to sleep in. Just had my morning chocolate (a Yorkie Bar), so onward into the day!
Thank you, @Dovefromabove I've taken part in several sleep studies, much to my wife's amusement. However, they've all been epilepsy related, rather than generalized. They are interesting to do, and you don't necessarily get to sleep the whole time. Sometimes it's been sleep deprivation. Not that I need that right now. I know the consequences. I want to sleep all night. Why is it so difficult? No-one has provided me with a satisfactory answer. It just IS.
I’m first to post on 28/10. Went to bed 11.30 ish other half out like a light but I just became more and more awake. Got up at 12.30 I’ve read some rubbish had a tea then done what you’re not supposed to do picked up the iPad. It’s all so frustrating isn’t it…I fight to stay awake at times through the day then fight to go to sleep at night. I’m fortunate that most days I don’t have to get up until I’m ready to but it’s not ideal. Well it’s just after 2am I’ll give bed another go…wish me luck …and heart felt sympathy to fellow suffers who are still struggling.

Please do let us know how the experiment goes, @AnnaB
