In spite of a (fairly) quiet fan running, it's just too warm for me. Have just looked outside and there are several neighbour's lights going on and off. Not just me by the looks of it. Bah !
It's getting on for 3am, and disturbed by myself, then toddler next door, then by wife. The latter because she is worried about having to make a decision about moving house to a smaller place. Will have to get rid of stuff. Lots of it. Why can't she leave that to the daytime?
Always the same in the wee small hours @rowlandscastle444 . Once your brain starts churning, it's very difficult to stop it. Sometimes l find it helps to have a notebook and write things down. If your brain thinks you've taken action it calms down.
Greetings fellow Night Hawkers. Been a bit warm of late hasn't it? How are you all coping? I'm just thinking that I might grab a cuppa and go sit outside for a while. Listening to the night sounds - we are deep in the countryside, no traffic noises here - can be very relaxing and calming which is good for the soul they say. Hoping that some of you folk have managed to get back to sleep by now.
I have tried @AnnaB. Just one of those nights l suppose, just too warm and stuffy in spite of the fan. If it was May it would be getting light by now and l could get out in the garden and do some watering. Hey ho. I will give it another try, it does seem to be cooling down outside.
The piece of paper is an excellent idea @AnniD@rowlandscastle444 . My friend was worried sick about a lot of things. The end of her tether was in sight in fact! The constant churning and mulling and worrying left her exhausted. I sat her down, took a piece of paper and asked her to list the things that worried her most. Turns out there weren't hundreds of things as she thought, there were five. She just kept running them all round and round in her head. I have since heard her give the same advice to her daughter! I slept very well for a change but then six hours driving behind slow idiots and stressing yourself to the point of heart attack to try to get to an appointment on time will do that I suppose! 😳
I love the sound of sitting outside in the wee hours, just enjoying the peace and quiet. There is also a comet visible for the next few nights, which I would love to see. ( I remember my dear mother waking me in the middle of the night to see comets and other celestial excitements, was much appreciated by me but I didn’t think of the effects on her of having disturbed nights) However, I’ve been put off by the huge number of flying insects out there, plus the unidentifiable crashing around in the shrubbery, plus the very noisy owls! And the best place to sit is outside the front door, and I set the automatic lights on - never remember in advance to ask OH how to disable them. Bit scary outside the back door!

@AnniD
I have own and paper by the side of the bed. Often use it too. My brain can't hold info like it used to. Especially at night.
Wife is a champion worrier. Worries for Britain!! 🫠
Sigh.
