Our car is weatherproof, starts first time after sitting unattended at airports and cruise terminals. I’m not, though! Our garage can be accessed through the house, so no need to totter out onto a slippery driveway to get into it, or unload the shopping! And definitely nicer to climb into a room temperature seat, than faffing around with de icing spray or the like. However, I did have a ride in my daughter in laws car recently, and she luckily warned me that the heated seat was switched on. Apparently, unsuspecting passengers have been known to wonder if they had wet themselves when surprised by a warm sensation in the nether regions!
It took the hubby 10 minutes to de ice the car this morning, so we could go to my hospital appointment. The washer water even froze half way there it was so cold, good job it was a relatively short journey. Yes our garage is used for all sorts, mainly so we don't store things in the loft, as I hate him climbing, so we put up with defrosting. Glad to hear the peace is having an effect @rowlandscastle444 and maybe the stresses have eased too.
After spending about 15 minutes de-icing my car yesterday morning, I would love to be able to keep it in the garage, so I'm with your wife on this one @rowlandscastle444 . It was hard ice, not just frost that scrapes off easily, so I had to run the heater until it softened a bit (I hate the smell of de-icer spray so I don't use it). Alas, the garage is only a single, and OH's (newer) car is in there. I then had to scrape snow off when I left my parents' house in the evening but that was easier, just soft snow.
Just to be slightly on-topic, I was awake most of last night (seems like, anyway) because OH wouldn't stop snoring. He's got a mild cold which makes it worse than usual.

@JennyJ I took a closer look at our garage this morning, I have a horrible feeling that our car won't actually fit through the garage doors - which might explain why cars all along this road are sitting on the driveway. My wife reckons it will, but I'm the one with greater spatial awareness - the scrape marks on the wing mirrors, gained by my wife entering our previous garage in the belief that there was sufficient room, when I told her she needed to fold them in - pays testament to our differences!! I imagine we will need the de-icer at some point.
Sorry that your sleep was much disturbed. I'm the snorer, so do the disturbing!!
I managed to squeeze my car into the garage one night but could not open the door to exit. Glad no one was watching. I now put my old Honda windscreen cover on which helps a lot. It also covers the wing mirrors and clips into the doors of my Mini to keep it in place.
When OH wants to change cars he measures the prospective new ones before buying to make sure it'll fit in the garage. It's usually length that's tight, not width. He could have a smaller car but hey, male pride and all! If there's a passenger they do have to get out before he drives into the garage, not enough width to open doors on both sides of the car once it's in there.

I must admit that, while my sleep pattern is still disturbed, the number of seizures I've been having each day, has noticeably reduced since we moved - an indication that I am less stressed than when living in our previous house. Probably a result of not being on tenterhooks for much of the time, due to the neighbours, the constant worry about people parking over the drive, and general unease because of town living.
I don't deny that there are things I miss from the old place, but there is so much potential here.
