that's only half of them. I planted them in pots this year so they can just be put away in a corner once they have gone over and let them die down naturally. I'll lift them and store them for next year.
Making the most of what is forecast to be the last of the warm weather for a while. Last of the dahlias and begonias turned up so potted them up. Most of the daffodils and narcissi in pots have finished and the tulips are now beginning to show. Lovely red one called "Everlasting love" is the first. OH cut the lawns, he is planning to spike them as we have some much needed rain forecast for tomorrow.
Planted some reduced price primroses in a small trough near the front door and then planted an erodium, two penstemon 'Pinacolada Violet' and remaining primroses in the back garden beds. After lunch, I tried to hook out all the old debris under the long side hedge so I could throw some Growmore on the roots, but too hard work. The euronymus is beginning to sprout back but the box still looks sick. We need a lot of rain!
Not much today. Planted up two large tubs of main crop spuds and moved the bird feeder to get the pigeons away from my veg beds and plants... crows and rooks are demolishing the feeder at the moment... think I will have to ‘proof’ them or build a cage!
I planted up a small terracotta trough with two saxifrage, sowed a 12 compartment seed tray with cucumber seeds and had a small disagreement with OH re: he wanted to cut some clover that will seed in a few weeks whilst I wanted to leave it to mature - he says he can't sit in his garden chair unless all the "weeds" have been cut down and I said it would be a whole lot more interesting if there are flowers attracting the bees rather than sterile short weeds. He sulked all day and that made me feel worse. On the plus side we had a visit from another person running the wild flower meadow process, so we could compare our flowers notes so far.
Picked the last of the purple sprouting broccoli (been cropping since mid Feb). Then Started the annual ritual of dismantling and preparing to move the brassica cage on the Allotments yesterday. It's a chore but it's the only way to stop the pigeons from destroying the crop.
I did go down and uncover my onion sets day before yesterday so the got the rain, nothing yesterday, and so far not today but will try later between the showers just to check all is ok and maybe replace the cloche's.

Just read the last half dozen pages on this thread, worn out. Wet and windy here, so I moved some new clematis still in pots into the garage in a big rubber trug for now, don't want them damaged. There is a window so they won't suffer too much lack of light. Blow away is already at full capacity including the floor.
@Pams Pastures, how many sleeps before your new greenhouse now :)How can you sleep! @batwood14 a lovely lot of bulbs but the yellow and creamy tulips look especially nice.
