That must be so annoying @Didyw! You'd think they might have checked beforehand.

You'd think so wouldn't you? And also give me a chance to consider where the hole might be drilled into the house.

Everybody is a specialist these days , we had a leaking water meter
First it was inspected and they confirmed it was leaking , then another team came and dug a hole , then another team replaced the water meter casing , then another team filled the hole , then another team came and fitted the water meter in the casing , then customer services phone to ask if it was ok , which it was

@GWRS, puts me in mind of the Flanders and Swan number, the gasman cometh, corny I know,  but as the chorus goes " oh it all makes work for the working man to do "

Spent the afternoon in the greenhouse potting on and moving things out to the cold frame.

In between the showers, I just moved seedlings from the porch to the greenhouse and when it rained, seedlings from the bedroom into the porch. It's a merry go round at the moment.

That exactly what happened to us @GWRS when ours needed changing. Plus for us they had a man come twice to try to repair it first.🙄😆

I sprayed my hollyhock seedlings with copper solution, removed a caterpillar from my grow house and re-sited him on some honesty leaves, removed the seedling casualties of the caterpillar (now just stalks), looked at beds and borders and decided it was too wet to weed. They really need a good going over though and I know it's easier when the soil is wet and soft, but I just can't find the energy at the moment.

Had a little potter around some local nurseries. I'm looking for bearded irises and there are some lovely colours around, but I'm going to have to wait until I see them being sold with flower stems. If I want one that will take three years to flower I only need to look in my borders. I want one that will flower this year. So will look again in a week or two.

Rain has stopped play for today.  But I managed to get some of the plants I bought at the plant fair yesterday into the ground, tie in the various clematis, a bit of weeding and planted out some of the seedlings that are ready to be planted out.  The soil is definitely warm - you could sit on it on with a bare bum! (Not that I did, I hasten to add).

Not today ☔️ but did a bit yesterday - pulled a ton of Ivy out from behind several large shrubs/trees, potted-on courgettes, rearranged my patio pots - sent a couple to plant ‘intensive care’ (something eating my chocolate cosmos and a white salvia), and some general pottering. Poor show on my peas. They have a wigwam waiting so I might re-try now it’s (and don’t laugh) ‘warmer’.

Strimmed all the scruffy edges and cut the grass mixing all the clippings in the compost. Weeded round the veg beds again, I find that my friend bitter cress just won't take the hint and insists on coming back. Planted half a dozen salvias that were lifted last autumn, they've got going well so fingers crossed they perform. Potted on a Amistad salvia we bought yesterday, it's destined to be cuttings material all year to get a good supply. Managed an entire day without rain
