Thanks to Facebook, I'm back in touch with a friend I lost track of nearly 20 years ago!
Careful what you wish for.  You may discover that losing touch wasn't such a bad idea after all. :D

Very much so.  Somebody we hadn't seen in years got their name in the paper following a court appearance for behaviour which I won't detail here, but he only just avoided a jail sentence.  Suffice to say his wife left him and his daughter wanted no further contact.
Fast forward about 12 months and we were sat having a quiet drink, and something to eat, in our local when he walked up to us and introduced his new lady as if nothing had ever happened.  We had, and have, no idea if she was aware of his background as she isn't from the UK.  For her sake we continued with smalltalk for a couple of minutes when thankfully our food arrived and they moved to another table.
I'm pleased to say our paths haven't crossed again since.

It's April 1st.  Had I stayed married to my first husband, I would be celebrating 53 years of marriage today - but I didn't, so I'm really celebrating tonight!

It's poured with rain all night.  Great, because we've had a long dry spell, and yesterday we planted lots of bedding and some perennials in the park, so they have been well watered in.  The rain has stopped now, so I can potter for an hour before breakfast.

I applied weed and feed to the lawn yesterday and instructions said to water if it didn't rain within a couple of days.  It's raining today and saving me a job.

I solved some minor plant mysteries last night. I enjoy the challenge of finding the names of plants but these turned out to be rather easy thanks to Google.

I typed in 'white flower central reservation uk' and found out that the plant I've seen in  thick carpets of white/pinkish flowers is Danish scurvey grass. Interesting story of how it has spread from living only in coastal sites too.

The other plant that is appearing along the local streams turned out to be opposite-leaved golden saxifrage. The strange petal-less flowers were confusing.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
