The overwhelming majority of Germans I've met on holiday have behaved impeccably, but I couldn't begin to count the number of times I've seen shocking behaviour that's caused me to say " Tsk, Brits abroad......."

    So true @Hostafan1.
Wherever we have been, we have made friends with people from many other countries, but normally despair of the Brits.
Must put in a special mention for the much maligned Americans, we have had great fun with many of them, and they are always unfailingly courteous.
How can you lie there and think of England

We used to go to Gran Canaria about 6 times a year, sometimes more and often we'd go to bars where we'd be the only non Germans there and we were always made very welcome. I've even known the owners to change the music to English language songs.
I've never seen Germans getting hideously drunk/ get into fights or generally make ars*s of themselves. That's invariably the Brits.

I'm not suggesting it's true of all, but they do have a reputation for pushing boundaries.  Just ask Poland :-)
And whilst we're at it, perhaps we should also ask Scotland and Wales???
    Not to mention Ireland or.....or....

common knowledge that Hitler rejected ireland as not being worth invading..
Islander, the posts of Helen and Sam are ironic.  They're not about Germany....

My "reason to be cheerful" for today is that I've had a fairly decent pay rise.

I am pretty cheerful as on Tuesday l had a crown fitted (l know, l'm weird). My dentist is so nice and friendly,  a major difference to the one l had as a kid, he was a sadistic bar steward. I know dentistry  has changed a lot, but l'm sure he got  a kick out of watching people suffer. Also today l saw the hygienist who was pleased with the work l'd put in, which was a major relief as l was convinced she was going to say l had failed. Trouble is, l am cream crackered now, as l didn't sleep very well last night for worrying about it!
