My OH has arthritic knees and has used voltarol with no benefit, but has found relief in an old-fashioned herbal ointment called zambuk.  Not widely available, but worth a try if you can find it.

Found this - https://www.lakecountrymuseum.com/zam-buk-a-healing-antiseptic-ointment/   Amazon have it or you could make your own with some essential oils in a carrier oil or some beeswax - never direct on the skin on their own.

My brother-in-law swears by the cannabis oil you get in places like Holland & Barrett.  He's been using it for a couple of years or more and says it does make a big difference to his hip pain.  He's on his feet all day.

Did you see Trust Me I'm a Doctor last night?   Some of the "over-the-counter" cannabis remedies being sold are remarkably light on the active ingredient.  They tested some and one had none.

To be honest I'm not sure what the active ingredient is in OH's gel... I just assumed it would be ibuprofen...  it's not, it's etofenamate.  Made in Ireland, not surprisingly.

Current reasons to be cheerful:  my RHS seed order arrived yesterday, and my plastic growhouse has just been delivered.   :):):)

And another reason to be cheerful:  we needed a new bird feeder because the old one is cracked, and I ordered some fat cake which is very popular with our birds at the same time.  Carriage would be €7.60 unless I spent another €7 - so I got 3 herbaceous plants for €7.20, and free postage.  I reckon that means the plants cost me minus 40 cents...   o:)<3

My RTBC today is that the first dwarf Iris is blooming on the kitchen windowsill, it's just lovely!

I have installed a hedgehog house.  It's a large terracotta pot with a piece broken out of the rim.  It's been hanging around in compost corner for so long, I can't remember how I came by it or where from.  A sudden flash of inspiration showed me that the breakage was just the right size and shape for a hedgehog to go in and out if it was inverted.  So I pushed it between the fence and a big hebe, and put a broken bit of paving slab over the drainage hole to keep the rain out.  The bush hides it completely.  When it's time for the hogs to be stirring, I'll put some straw and leaves and twigs beside it and see if they get taken inside.
