Repair Shop - one of the best programmes on telly.  Much better than some episodes of GW (controversial).
I think I only watched about 1 in 3 of this season's GW.
    Devon.
  • Repair Shop = sheer bliss. Apart from the delight in watching their skills ... what lovely folk they are 😍

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

Are you sure it's not 2nd February?

Reason to be cheerful. Mum will start 2020 being able to see out of one eye, even if she does complain it feels gritty. We got up at 5.30, to pick her up at 6.30 , to get to Hospital before 7.30 am.  11.15 she went in to surgery, by 12 she had a cataract removed and replaced with a long distance lens.  Fish and chips on the way home. Happy New Year everyone. Welcome to the Roaring Twenties.
I have also gone crazy and ordered some double (and a triple white)Brugmansias from a breeder in Germany before Brexit. 25 euros postage but hey ho , you only live once.

Great news for your mum @fidgetbones.  I hope the grittiness wears off soon.

I'm considering an order for particular spices from a UK company................

I'm flabbergasted! I had reported online to the local Council after Xmas, a pothole between the edge of the road and our drive without much expectation of any notice being taken but lo and behold woke up this morning (on a Bank Holiday) to find they've painted white lines around it! I fully expect it will stay there for at least six months before anything is done about it but I am impressed.

That's great news for your Mum @fidgetbones - I can't imagine not being able to see.

There's one along the road from here which is so deep , someone has stuck a traffic cone in it. It must be 6inches deep
