Gorgeous pus, love that colouring. Years ago we adopted a pair of stray kittens that exact colour, called Saffron (yellow eyes, sweet and playful) and Sylvie (grey eyes, bossy madam). Ashley looks so much like dear little Saffie.

You might as well blame the people who discovered that coal burns, or the inventors of the internal combustion engine.  The vast majority of people do care about the planet but most were not aware of the long term damage until recent years.  Don't forget it was the well over 60s who fought for our freedom.  Should they feel guilty too about that!

We fought for your future so we have the right to take it away from you? Is that really your argument here? Where are this vast majority of people who care about the planet hiding? Are they the ones jetting off on holiday several times a year or the ones buying SUVs instead of economical cars because both are increasingly popular at the moment. I'm seeing little evidence that anyone is making any extreme lifestyle changes to save the planet but maybe that's just me? We just voted for the party with nothing in their manifesto to tackle climate change or even national loss of habitat and biodiversity. The same party that promised to be the greenest government ever then didn't bother to even try and live up to that claim. That tells me the majority of people are more concerned with their short term comfort than facing tough choices about the future.

I thought this thread would be an escape from the endless politics.
    Seems I was wrong  :/

No.  What I'm saying is that expecting people to apologise for what was the norm at the time is ridiculous.  To act, knowing that action is harmful is one thing, to act when the consequences were not apparent is entirely different.

Too right.  I, for one, am really looking forward to Scottish independence now, but not on this thread.

I'd argue that caring about the future of the planet isn't being curmudgeonly but point taken.
