FINALLY the Dahlias have started sprouting! Nice, solid tubers potted up a while ago, and since then: nothing, nada, nowt. I thought they were goners, but all of a sudden there are lots of shoots. Cheerful indeed :)

Reason to be cheerful to day. Lots of mulching done, but even better than that: Mrs Canada Goose was out with her 7 new babies.

Reason to be simultaneously cheerful and apprehensive... we've had our offer accepted on a bungalow in a village in County Clare, in western Ireland.  We won't be moving for a bit, as the house needs some work doing - October at the earliest, more likely next Spring...  0.3 acres of garden currently consisting of grass and trees only.   :)
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Most of one border, about 100 feet, re-edged and the grass and other weeds all removed.  Several new plants installed in new homes and a few existing moved.  Painted 6 fence panels.  Divided and repotted a couple of hostas.  Mowed most of the lawn before my back screamed for mercy.  Rest of the lawn can wait until tomorrow.
Not bad really for a bloke with one dodgy hip and a pair of knackered knees.  The back plays up because of the contortions I have to go through due to the other 'faulty' bits.  Back will be fine again by morning as I've learnt to listen when it protests.

Congratulations Daddy Goose!  She will look after them better than the ducks look after theirs.
I used to incubate goose eggs then put them out with adults after they hatch, adults would take charge.

That's exciting news Lirio. Sounds like others had a good day as well, notwithstanding dodgy bits!
