    😃            😃            😃

Barclays sent me a customer feedback email a while back ... I gave them a right dressing down for closing rural banks and then not allowing customers to withdraw cash from Post Offices 😡 I don’t suppose I was the only one 🙄

I've said it before and I'll say it again:
"there's more than one Queen in this country who never carries cash"
I pay everything on my credit card and pay it off when my salary goes in. I can go months and not use cash.

There are plenty of small businesses around who don’t take cards for small payments ... they can’t afford the charges levied by the banks and card machine companies.

Here’s another bit of madness that hopefully is going to be stopped https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-50169527

Having been stuck for nearly 90 minutes on a bit of motorway that didn’t have a proper hard shoulder and we couldn’t get out of the car ... I can confirm it’s a terrifying place 😱

Can they afford to turn away the custom of those who don't carry cash?

We don’t have a bank locally, we get paid mostly in cheques, which I post to pay in, not many of our type of customers have Internet, let alone trusting it to do banking.
we can draw money out of the PO but rarely do, although as self employed we do from time to time just for show.
I thought all high street banks let you draw from the PO.

Believe it or not, in some small villages there are people who, for one reason or another, do not use credit/debit cards.
The withdrawal of cash facilities from PO's by Barclays is a bad move.
I know this, and make no judgement about it.
My bank is the only one left in our town and I've only been in there about 10 times in 8 years.
If there are no cash facilities, folk have to make the choices that suit them.

Sometimes they can’t afford not to turn it away ... the charges can outweigh any profit they might make on that transaction. 😢

I totally agree but if banks / POs are losing money providing cash machines , choices have to be made. I've not heard anyone saying they'd be happy to pay a fee to use them.
I hate the whole banking system with every fibre of my being, I'm certainly not defending them, but if folk find themselves in a situation where they have no access to cash they have the choice of going further to get it, or use cards, that's the point I'm trying ( unsuccessfully )to make
