I’m loving it, but then I always do (apart from last autumn/“fall” 🍂 when I boycotted it ....don’t want to see New England when there is still so much fascinating stuff on our own doorstep. I know that the BBC missed me in their viewing figures 😉 so it was a worthwhile protest 🤪)
Sorry that this programme has now finished until Spring watch (May?). I really enjoyed this week in Scotland - the beauty of the snow on tonight's programme, the northern light pictures and video were amazing and the interesting facts and photography. I couldn't help feeling that the deer shouldn't be fed in the housing area with traffic so close, but should only be fed in the parks and countryside, but I guess that is no different from people feeding foxes in their gardens or hedgehogs come to that.
Watching Michaela feeding those coal tits reminded me of johnnycanoe in Canada. M was amazed by the trusting behaviour and so was I, even though there was a peanut feeder close by they still chose to feed from her hand.
Just finished the final episode tonight. I wish it wasn't such a short series, 4 days never seems long enough. I'm very jealous of Chris and Michaela getting to see those crested tits up close and have coal tits feeding from their hands. I've held quite a few wild birds over the years but usually in less than ideal circumstances. Each time was an amazing privilage but to have them come willingly would just be amazing. I bet that feeding station will become very popular after that show.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
I think you are right wild edges - that special moment with Mchaela and the coal tits will remain in her memory and mine for a long time to come. The whole four days of programmes were so enjoyable - I wonder just how they are going to follow up - although I guess by Spring watch the bird boxes will be used (perhaps not by the pine martin though) and other creatures will have made nests or have youngsters too.
