Yes, that is true, l certainly couldn't cope with reading an auto cue, and dealing with the pressure of live TV. It was bad enough when l had a microphone under my nose trying to describe my garden for the local radio station. At least l had the luxury of being able to do it again if l bu**ered it up. I think the secret is to imagine you're just talking to one person. My local hedgehog rescue was on Winterwatch a couple of years ago, Margherita Taylor spent all day there, and by all accounts she was lovely.
The footage of the brambling flocks was pretty amazing on Monday's program. I can't imagine what 70 million of them looks like (or how anyone counted that many). The most I've seen was a flock of about 100 in North Wales a few years ago.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
I'm still willing to give Gillian B time to "bed in"... after all, there are plenty of people who don't like Chris Packham's presenting style; in common with others with Asperger's syndrome, he comes over as knowledgeable but not "cuddly"... maybe the cuddly element is supplied by Michaela. I like variety, and really respond to an enthusiast even if their presenting style isn't altogether to my taste.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
I am willing to give Gillian more time to relax and bed in as well, I seem to recall CP was pretty stilted too, at the start, but he has mastered the art of presenting very well. It must be hard to join an established team, especially when Chis and Michaela have built up such a good rapport. Loving the new location.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
To be fair Chris and Michaela have been working together since the 80s so no one could just join the team and have the same kind of rapport. I like how Iolo seems to get under Packham's skin these days though, he was getting a bit serious before he started his therapy so it's nice to see him lightening up a bit again. The show has had a lot of really good presenters doing small parts over the years though and Gillian doesn't seem like the prime choice out of all of them. In fairness Martin was never my favourite presenter either but he did seem to appeal to younger viewers.
It's a tricky show to produce I imagine when you have to make it appeal to everyone from casual viewers to serious nature buffs as well as keeping it accessible and engaging for kids.

I used to find Martin’s continual tossing of his locks really annoying until he had his hair cut. I don’t have a problem with Gillian ... shd seems a little anxious but she has big shoes to fill ... and she’s getting better all the time. I don’t suppose a lot of folk would warm to Patrick Moore’s presentation style if he were starting today ...
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I am really enjoying it. What a fabulous setting. I understand they will broadcast from there for this year’s SpringWatch and AutumnWatch too. I usually sneak upstairs with a cuppa (and maybe a bit of chocolate) and watch it in bed a bit later.

Chris & Michaela almost a comedy duo by comparison! They’re from my childhood so it’s nice to see them still at it and enjoying it 😀
