I was admiring your selection too, @batwood14, I love a good colourful shrub! I have two of the same Loropetalum and various nandinas. I love Berberis too for autumn/winter colour, especially the ‘ rocket’ forms and the lovely smoky purple of the B. Atropurpurea.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Shrubs have to have something to offer if they are to get a look in in my garden. These are all for a new bed which is flanked by wisteria from behind and a new rose bed in front. I wanted to be able to pick up colour, contrast, shape and form. I'll post pics when I manage (or when it stops raining) to get them planted.
I do like Berberis - I have one which I think is about 10 years old and quite big now. Not sure what variety is it though.
Lovely pix @pitter-patter. I'm always forgetting to take photos in frosty weather so I took some this morning Three good frosts in a row are brilliant for drawing any moisture out of the foliage
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
