Crocosmia Lucifer gearing up to bloom.

This is a cutting of a Salvia Amistad, only about a foot or so tall. The one in the border hasn’t flowered yet.

    Tulbaghias are out!

Salvia 'Purple Rain' still going strong. New flower spikes are being produced lower down so at some point I'm going to cut the old ones down. Not quite yet though...

My other Salvia, 'Caradonna' with Achillea 'Lucky Break'

Persicaria a. 'Orange Field' just out. 'Orange' my ar$e! It's clearly pink! I like it though.

Thoughts on losing the lawn and increasing planting area, with stone bands and gravel in between (photos are from early May I think).

@WillDB The bands will make it look shorter, but the tree outlines-brilliant!-will break up the bands, and make it feel bigger. Great design! I hope you go for it.

Ah, so that’s a dierama... I was trying to imagine a flowering diorama and wondering why everyone had gone all picture-esque, so to speak.

Always happens to me, @WillDB. Agastache Tangerine Dream. Pink. Orange echinaceas. Pink. Orange roses. You’ve guessed it. Plays havoc with your colour scheme.

And what on earth is your neighbour up to on the right with that suspended pergola thingy?

@Picidae For how long have you had your dierama? I want one but I read that they take a long time to establish and flower when bought as small plants (and I only ever seen them sold as small plants).
I bought some dierama last year, forgot to plant them until about 4 weeks ago and they're in flower now. Very surprised TBH.
    Devon.
  • It has been raining here this morning - perfect weather for photography! I have been mostly photographing my Ditchweeds, aka Daylilies.

And finally, Purple Toadflax, with Gardeners' Garters.

That last picture is a fabulous combination, and I like the daylily in the preceding shot. Which one is it?
