Some extremely dark and threatening clouds approaching from the Southeast. Looks as if it could be pretty torrential.  Used to love thunderstorms until the chimney was struck by lightning some years ago !
    Fingers crossed 🤞

Lovely rain here in north London. I use my water butts by putting an open hose from them directly under new trees (in the summer) moving the hose about every few rainy days. So my new crab apples and roses are getting a good soaking.

We've just had some deep rolls of thunder. I wonder where the dog will be hiding this time?

I lost an old apple tree in the storms yesterday. It was getting weak, and had lost a few big branches over the years, but quite upsetting nevertheless. I think the heavy rain saturated it and the weak branches just gave out. Pleased it was dry today (for all the wood chopping) and looks dry again for tomorrow.

I'm sorry to hear that AuntyRach. It's always a shame when a tree suffers damage like that.  I believe apple wood burns very well with a nice smell?
It's been so windy here all day I was quite nervous walking underneath a very big old Norwegian Maple which overhangs our garden. At least it was dry all day and the wind has now died down.

Piddling it down and hail in it, now. I spent all day planting, so I guess I can miss watering in.
