New Year’s Day Flower Count 2019

    I think it will be a middling sort of count here, after looking round this morning. Previous years include an count of 6 and one of 60+ 
    I want to know who's going to the top of a willow to see if the white bits are flowering or just in bud. Ditto the Hazel

    Won't be home on Jan. 1st, so here's my current illustrated list, photos taken today (except for n° 1 and 3, taken just before Xmas). OK, some are more buds than in full bloom, but I hope they still count. ;)

    Can't compete with any of that, but I don't have loads of flowery plants anyway.  :)
     
    I will go out tomorrow and take a look, but the Hellebore nigers have been glorious for the past 6 weeks or more, and create a bright glow in the gloom and murk that dominates late autumn and early winter.
    I also have a little Dianthus that has never stopped flowering, and has some beautiful blooms right now.


    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    Most of mine are out of focus but you'll get an idea
    Viburnum
    Cyclamen
    Penstemon
    Celandine
    Helibore
    Woolworths bare root rose



    potentilla
    Bellis 
    gazania
    Bidens
    Vinca
    White rose with a woman's name - well a bit of it anyway!
    Pansy
    Primrose
    Daisy
     And another gazania
    There's also a couple more roses that were camera shy.


    In London. Keen but lazy.
  • These are not all flowering but there is one daff that is in full bud!

    That's also a good list - I love that plummy hellebore.

    Oh - I don’t think I’ll have anything in flower?! My garden has plenty of evergreen shrubs to give interest over Winter but little in the way of blooms. I’m feeling inspired by the lists already. Be fun to look around though - I love seeing buds coming though - more exciting than Christmas!
