    Hard to tell with scale, but it could be a faded Fuchsia shrub.

    Yes, but it's been damaged by weather or slugs eating it. Wash it, let it dry and keep it wrapped in newspaper in a cool frost free place. Try to keep a decent lump of it where each old stem comes out. Best to keep it as intact as possible until you know where the new stems are and you are more used to dealing with them.
