Is this Japanese Knotweed?

Hi, afraid to say not an avid gardener. About to buy a property and previously had one fall through because of having Japanese Knotweed in the garden. Have visited a new property today and have seen this- concerned this could be JK. Can anyone advise on whether they think it could be (I’m aware it’s trickier to tell in the winter). Thank you in advance.

    It looks like dead artichoke stems to me

    Hi  :). I’m afraid loads of plants look a bit like that at this time of year.

    Is it in a flower bed ... does the current owner have a name for it?

    Hi, according to the owners they are not aware of there being Japanese Knotweed in the garden. I visited there in October and I’ve attached a picture from then- it’s not the best but it’s to show the area it’s growing in which is more of a flower bed. Just behind the bench where there are other plants growing.

    Thanks for the replies so far. Sorry probably wasn’t clear... it was found today on the curved bit by the paving slabs. Near to where the plant is with the pink flower.

    looks like a dahlia to me.

    I think Hostafan is right, they look like dahlias (the pink and orange coloured flowers), and that's also what the dead stems look like.

    If it’s near where that pink dahlia was my guess is that it’s the remains of the pink dahlia which has died down for  the winter.

    Looks like a dahlia to me too. You could try lifting it to see what the roots are like.
