Our milk delivery was fine when we first moved here, but it got later and later until it wasn't arriving until after we'd left for work (not that early in those days - about 8:15).  We asked if they could deliver by 8am, they said yes but it was still very hit-and-miss so we cancelled it after a few more months.  They seemed surprised...…  Not very long after that I heard that they'd lost so many customers that they were struggling to keep the business going.

  • @JennyJ, That's the same as us when we worked started off all fine then got so late we cancelled. Unfortunately now we could do with one and it would not matter what time there is no one available .......Such is life

Very true.  I'd like to support more local businesses and I don't mind paying a bit more than supermarket/internet shopping etc. prices, but they need to provide what I want to spend my cash on.

When we lived in Nuneaton we use to get milk delivered by local Co op but they decided it was no longer financially viable and stopped
Haven’t seen a milkman in at least 30 years
  • We are lucky where we are we have small family run shops apart from a small Tesco, Butchers, fish monger, veg shop, hardware shop, hair dresser, barber etc etc we try and do support them as much as possible every one says hello and will stop and chat even to strangers. and yes it costs a little more but it is still a community.

And that can be hard to find in this day and age.

Some stupid cow has just reversed into Worzle. " what's the use of reversing sensors if they don't tell you there's a car there? " she said. I was tempted to reply, " what's the point in wing mirrors if you don't look at them" hey ho, she's going to pay for it.

I can remember the orange United Dairies cart pulled by a big white horse. The coal man and the rag and bone man used horses too. Now the only ones I see are the black ones for OTT funerals.

The wife just came back from the supermarket, apparently it's rammed full of people panic buying. The bakery said they can't churn bread out fast enough. The postman came extra early today and the recycling was even earlier. Not a flake of snow so far though...
