    Neighbourhood coffee machine perhaps?

We are both up before the sun today waiting for the CH enginner who is now 45 mins late and counting.  Came to do the annual service on the 5th and an essential part broke so no heating since.   Been snuggling up under fleece rugs in the evening to keep warm cos the log burner is just too hot.

I am off for a shower and then to help set up the mosaic group exhibition at the community centre where we meet.  All the other crafty groups based there will be on show too.

Sorry Pdoc but I find all those paintings flat and dull and with no energy which may be the intended commentary on urban life and small people.  Not of interest to me.  Prefer Breughel on country life - fun being had despite hard conditions - and Vermeer on bourgeois life - loads going on.  I have a Reubens etching of 4 negro heads on our living room wall.   It is beautiful and not at all dull despite being monochrome.  The Chalcography museum in Brussels has the original engraving in a huge collection - https://www.kbr.be/en/collections/chalcography

I'd happily give all those artists' works a good home :-).

Glad your back is improving and you had a good time, Chicky. Hope Hosta has arrived safely and that Liri is on her way. Has the CH engineer turned up yet, Obxx?

Last night's shenanigans all went smoothly. Beautiful Shostakovich piano concerto with four cellos. Children's opera on Saturday, woodwind solos Monday, solo singing on Wednesday and wind band the following Saturday... then two more choir concerts (with sneaky cello solos) in December... and I think that's it until January.

Busy busy LG.  Do the girls have to fit in exams too?

CH chappy turned up 5 mins ago.  I'm off for my shower.  Fortunately we had PV panels installed last spring so hot water no longer reliant on CH.

  • Sounds lovely LG ... must find out what’s on here in the next little while ... haven’t been to a live music event (other than MILs Ukelele concert) in a while ...

Glad he turned up, Obxx! We had a terrible boiler the first few years we lived here - broke down at least once a year, no heating or hot water, always took a week or two to fix. I was very glad when it broke down irretrievably and we had a to get a new (good) one. Not so bad if you still have hot water.

Bow had most exams last week with a few stragglers this week. Trill's are in December, with a flute chamber music concert (I'd forgotten that one!) right in the middle of them. And we're having all our windows done that week too...

Dove, we visited Snape Maltings while on holiday this year. No events on that day, but I'd love to see a concert in that space.

@LG_  Snape Maltings is one of my most favourite places in the Whole Wide World.  I've been going there (but not often enough nowadays... I used to live much closer ) since my teens when the original one was opened ... by chance I happened to be picnicking on the heath nearby when it burned down in '69 and I stood and wept as I realised it was the concert hall ... I've had so many wonderful experiences there I couldn't pick one out ... although exhibiting there myself has to be high on the list  o:) ... nodding off in the front row with my head on Imogen Holst's shoulder after interval drinks has to be a low :flushed:  ......... one concert that stands out in my memory was given by the Borodin Quartet a goodly while ago ...  I was young and impressionable, but it was truly unforgettable ... you must must must go there for a concert <3

LilyP, last night's stormy weather just seemed to have come unexpectedly and has brought the few remaining leaves down.
Hope dental appointment doesn't throw up any problems.
