Have you broken the internet Ruby2? Hopeless mare As you and others have said - it's a case of adapting. Forums all have differing features, advantages and issues, but when something this useful is free to use, it's a great resource and I'm very grateful for it
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I would like to be able to ignore certain threads that I am not interested in so the Recent Discussions list is just stuff I want to see. A bit like being able to ignore the stickies.
......or can we already do this?

I use Recent Discussions a lot. And the Mark All Viewed feature when I'm about to leave. So I know that the next time I sign in, all the Recent Discussions are ones I haven't read yet. Any I'm not interested in, I just don't read.
This is one of the politest and calmest and nicest boards I've ever been on. If you want to experience a bear pit of nastiness and backbiting, try the Digital Spy board. There's an experience!
I wish I was a glow worm A glow worm's never glum Cos how can you be grumpy When the sun shines out your bum!
I'm perfectly happy with the Forum overall. I too think it would be useful to be able to ignore a Thread though. If I started a thread on Hostas, for example, it would be useful for those who don't like them, don't grow them have no interest in them ( weirdos !! ) to be able to ignore it. I accept that this isn't possible and it's something I'm more than happy to live with. I think @NoraGW and the rest of the team do a wonderful job for which they're rarely thanked.
Some of the jargon used on this thread baffles me, I clearly haven't done the course. What's a pop up? What's a sticky? How can I avoid getting a dozen emails each day from GW Forum? Thank you.
@Paul N ... go to your Settings ... then Notification Preferences ... you can then select if and how you wish to be notified of different events (new posts on your threads etc) ... by email or by Pop Up, (a little box that pops up on the screen for a few moments to let you know, then disappears again ... this is my preference except for PMs when I like to receive an email).
The Stickies are the Notices from NoraGW giving info on how to use various functions on the board. They 'stick' at the top of the forum until you Dismiss them.

@LauraRoslin, l know what you mean about the digital spy forums! It always amazes me how a reasonable discussion can suddenly turn into "yes l did", "no you didn't" type of spat and get really nasty. It's like being back in the playground. One of the new things l like on this forum is being able to reply to someone using the @ symbol, that has proved very useful.

I'm sure them slugs and snails would keep subscribed to your threads, @Hostafan1.
