Toby Buckland

I'm worried. It seems that Toby Buckland is being reintroduced into the GW staff. Let's hope he doesn't get the lead again. I almost gave up watching what had been one of my favourite programmes when he had the lead last time. Monty Don has really breathed new life into the show

  • Oh i like him :) He is always cheerful and knowledgable.  If I lived closer I would definitely visit his garden festival at Forde Abbey. I suppose it wouldn’t do if we all liked the same people ...
  • I actually quite like him.  Probably my favourite of the back-up GW crew but he does need to lay off the jokey metaphors, which are not that funny.  What was that one about a kid on the first of autumn term?  I think his enthusiasm and love of gardens really comes through.

I would caveat all that with saying that he is in no way a replacement for Monty.  There is no replacing him and when he does go the show will inevitably change in character, for the better I'm sure some might say.

Adam Frost still not growing on me either  :/

As l said on another thread, l like Toby, but there is no way that everyone feels the same way, because that's life. Not every presenter appeals to every viewer. That's impossible !

Generally can't bear Tony Buckland. Glad when he was no longer there. Adam Frost is Ok. The problem with Carol Klein is that she laughs constantly. So sorry Rachel de Thame got cancer. I hope  she's better and will be appearing again. Francis Tophill? worship of youth - (I guess she was brought in to appeal to a younger audience) when gardening needs experience.

Always a bit odd when someone's first post is to complain about a presenter....

    Just sayin'  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

IMHO GW went to pot during Toby's stint because of the stupid decisions of the production team to revamp the whole "style" of the programme. The whole stupid " cool wall" thing wasn't his idea , he was lumbered with it and took the flack.
Unlike MD, I have never heard TB say anything which is factually inaccurate.
At least we weren't subjected to endless soppy shots of dozing dogs. ( Cue outrage )

The letters W, U and M come to mind.
