Any dead goldfish we had went down the loo. Back to the sea as mum said.

I love one legged sea stars.(I don't want to be pedantic but they are not fish) They regenerate you know. Harlequin shrimps like to eat them alive one leg at a time.  If the  seastars escape, the leg grows back. We had a tug of war on Ningaloo reef with a harlequin shrimp and a blue seastar. We pulled the seastar out of its hole, the shrimp kept pulling it back.

Sorry I'm a bit late. I'm in Newfoundland and have spent the day looking at lighthouses and marvelling at sundews on the edge of a bog. I have to say wine and food is chuffing expensive here, on a par with Norway. When this bottle is empty I may have to go Methodist for the week again.  I had a can of strongbow last night, served on ice, cost the best part of eight quid.

Goldfish from my pond get fished out and put into the landfill bin. Too big to go down the loo.
I would imagine that the OP's fish would be quite small but never heard of anyone keeping them in a box before.. A Viking burial would be good. But if there is no smell, then no chance of dogs or foxes digging them up so burial in the ground would not be out of plaice.

I’m loving loving this thread, the daily laugh!
I certainly wouldn’t keep that fish I bought in tesco last week in a box, was it whiffing, wrapped in newspaper and in the bin, couldn’t imagine keeping that in a box or any sort of burial. 🤢🤮
