In defence of my comment about 'not fixing what isn't broken' I'm certainly not opposed to buying new items but I don't like waste when an item can be re-used why cast it out to the rubbish heap?
I buy as much as I can second hand. I've saved a fortune and got some really good quality baby stuff recently by scouring ebay and gumtree. It's all better quality stuff than I can afford if I bought it all new. My family still look down on me for being 'cheap' though
What really annoys me though is that baby car seats are basically disposable items now. It's the one item I had to buy new and it has no second hand value. It's in really excellent condition and only a year old but if we decide not to have more kids then it's only good for landfill.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

The problem is that it may have been dropped onto a hard surface or have been in an accident and the structure may have been damaged ... the same with crash helmets and riding crash caps etc ... better safe than sorry

👹👹🤬🤬👹👹🤬🤬😡 thats it! I’m giving up, one too many large photos has tipped me over the edge.
If you're referring to the one on the poetry thread, I don't blame you. I've got fast speed and unlimited downloads and it still froze my computer! That rarely happens. This forum needs some kind of limit to photo sizes. If my internet isn't coping, gods alone know how anyone on a ropey connection copes.
There is a limit on photo size, but the site can't be blamed for the shortcomings of every device used to access it, nor the internet strength available to those trying to access it.
I know. But this is the only forum where I ever have a problem downloading due to photo size. And I use a lot of different forums. And if there is a limit on photo size, it's not working and it needs lowering.
As I said in my post, I have a very good internet connection as I'm on fibre and live near the connection box. So it's not my internet that is the problem.
The problem does seem to be ongoing. I've adjusted the settings on my camera to help, but I'm sure if there was some " easy fix " it'd have adopted by now. I think, on balance , this Forum is very good, given that it's free to use.
Oh I agree! It's a very good forum. It's just not the best platform, unfortunately. I run a forum on Proboards and they have an extension that means you can post images without them taking up space on the forum's server. So we don't have this problem with photos.
So do I Laura, but Nora said they couldn’t do that on here, I have already suggested it. first off there was no limit, they've now capped it at 6mb, way too big, no need for that on any forum. Hostafan has taken a lot of time to learn how to reduce his and they are perfect. i don’t blame the posters, it’s not their fault.

"Hostafan has taken a lot of time to learn how to reduce his and they are perfect. i don’t blame the posters, it’s not their fault." @NoraGW the make and model of my camera and she found out how to do it and told me. They do their best IMHO, but it's true what they say " you can't please all the people all the time"

I agree the limit should be a lot lower. I think most sites set it at 1mb. I think. And I agree it's not the posters fault. Most people are not even aware of the size of their photos until it is pointed out to them by whatever site they are using.
I wish I was a glow worm A glow worm's never glum Cos how can you be grumpy When the sun shines out your bum!
If you use Windows live picture gallery its very easy to resize an image and you don't lose the original either. For here I always reduce my originals that are generally around 3.5Mb down to 1Mb but I can go down to as low as about 330kb
