  • I’ve only ever had NHS dentists ... and I’ve never been less than satisfied with my treatment ... and I still have all my own teeth at an age when my parents both had mouths full of dentures.  :D
nothing for me to be curmudgeonly about so far  ;)

My dentist is a lovely guy, very different from the first one l had as a child. He thought injections were for wimps. I am sure that's why l have got a reasonably high pain threshold! Thank heavens for modern dentistry!

I had the same dentist from 1975 to 1999, when she retired to look after her elderly Mother, after that I stayed with the practice till 2013.  Over 50 miles from where we now live, but I worked in the town so could arrange appointment before or after my nightshift, because I trusted them, most of that time was the SAME dental nurse and receptionist, I think that says a lot about the good working relationships.  New dentist near, very nice, but obviously missed micro cracks, broke tooth at gum level, very traumatic extraction by surgeon, (she was also very nice) my second dry sucket, folk who have had that will know the pain, involved!  Had the op 18th December, so not even an emergency service, anywhere.  Became so phobic, went to lovelly private practice, My 1975 dentist had filled in middle front tooth, it was looking a bit discoloured, I hadnt needed any treament for years so desided I could afford to go private.  She re-did the filling, 4 years ago, it already looks like its degrading. Now have a very nice NHS dentist recomended by someone I met on here.  My oldest daughter, now 48, still goes there, she has now moved to Kent but couldnt get an NHS dentist in London.

My NHS dentist is really good and is within walking distance. The hygenist on the other hand has a 6 month waiting list and a masters degree in S&M. I floss every day to avoid her thorough and unsympathetic services.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
  • My dentist was happy with my teeth ... no change in their condition since my last visit ... it's ages and ages since I've had anything other than a clean and polish.  Today's visit cost £21.60 and included a clean and polish ... very pleased.  Appointment with the hygienist in Feb and the dentist again in May :D

That's good Dove. I thought l was such a brave little soldier yesterday, l went out and treated myself to a new pair of f boots,  and met a friend for coffee. Back to being curmudgeonly very soon, l am sure.

Bloody hell and swear words!! The under gardener has pulled up the globe artichokes.

Planted last spring, left to grow and mature tho they were already producing some nice heads and stunning purple flowers and the b****r's pulled them up to make way for my onions.
