Liri - I think it was @josusa47 with the snuffy cuffs.

Don't have too many problems with light bulbs here.   They all seem to be LED of one sort or another.  The trick is finding one bright enough.  Really hard to find one equivalent to the old 100 watt.   All these low energy ones seem to manage is 60watts.

£50 billion spent at Christmas by 61 million people? That’s £757 each. Will the people who’ve taken my share kindly own up? I want it.

@Obelixx That new department store beginning with AMAZ sell 100w equivalent low energy bulbs. I feel as though I am sitting in a lighthouse! And yes, I do have a zillion light bulbs all different sizes and fittings...……...just like Tupperware containers - no matter how many you have, you still cannot find one the exact size you need...……

And as for the Royal Mail - I have had 2 items missing in the past few weeks - one was a calendar, now sent twice, neither of which has turned up and the other was a gift voucher coming all the way from Glasgow - 45 mins away on the bus!!

Thanks Hogweed but I try to avoid the Amazon monster if I can use local suppliers or go direct online to a supplier.

A small problem but an irritating one.  I have a cold, which is in the nose-running-all-the-time phase, and am feeling curmudgeonly about the need, whilst trying to do the washing up, to a) be uncouth and wipe my nose on my sleeve, or b) stop, dry my hands and blow my nose, then wash my hands before resuming the washing up...

I can't remember who on this forum invented Snuffy Cuffs.  I think I need some...
I did.  Send me your address in a pm and I'll gladly run you up a couple, in the time it takes for your cold to clear up! But you'll be ready for the next one.

If you factor out those who don't buy presents, those who don't celebrate xmas, children, the very poor etc, for the sake of easy arithmetic, that'll be about 50 million who buy presents, which takes it to £1,000 per head. So a family of Mum, Dad and 2 kids are reckoned to be spending £4,000 between them?

"Back in the day" a Christmas present was something special, an item that was wanted because it was not easily obtainable and had to be saved up for.Today people can click on a button and get stuff within 24 hours, most people don't "need" anything, which is why there is all this tat which ends up getting thrown away by 2nd January.
