    I'm sick of bl**dy fireworks now :|
    Ditto.
And sorry for all the wildlife, I wonder how much it affects them.

I was feeding the ducks on the local pond on friday when one went off. They all panicked and flew for cover. We've had non-stop fireworks for 4 nights now and the dog is a nervous wreck so I hate to think what it does to all the wild animals.

A few years ago someone in Belgium posted a radar photo of the entire country just before mdnight on NY Eve.  All was calm and still.

At midnight, huge firework displays welcome the new year and the radar pic for one minute past was huge smudges as birds took to the air all over the country in towns and cities and villages.   Frightens the pants off the poor things.  The terrestrial critters must lie and shake till it's all over.  Our nervy Labrador dived under the furniture and trembled.  The cats don't like it either and nor does our other dog but they just coem to us for cuddles and reassurance.   No consoling the Lab till it's over.

How do you explain it to wildlife or console them?

Personally l think all firework sales to the public should be banned, and only allowed for public display. The modern trend for having them at weddings etc is literally money going up in smoke, but you could have silent ones. One of our neighbours is a wedding photographer and takes beautiful pictures of them, so the bangs aren't needed ! I expect to hear them going off at random times around here from now untl the first week of January. I know the large displays wouldn't help the wildlife, but at least it wouldn't be so stressful for domestic animals.

I imagine a ban would go down as well as a ban on allowing cats to roam free  :/  I'd like to at least see them have minimum pricing and extra taxing to cover the costs to police and the NHS every year.

My neighbour over the road had a family display last night and was launching rockets towards my house. We're 2 storeys higher than them so they were basically exploding at my roof level with sparks raining down into the garden. They had roman candles that were shooting all over the place, into trees, onto the road, into other peoples' gardens. I know it's all a bit of fun but the private displays are really getting excessive around here now.

I should say on balance though that every year I collect about 10 rocket sticks from the streets while out walking the dog and they make great plant support stakes. All my chilli plants were held up by rocket sticks this year o:)

I'd say, on balance, I can endure the fireworks for a couple of weeks compared with the daily barking of my neighbours' dogs 365 days a year.

They are drilling 3 miles down into the ground in Cornwall, starting today, it will power 3,000 houses, by the time they’ve finished there will be another 3,000 houses build, how many holes will they dig in the Cornwall landscape.
Maby they will trigger of a couple of earthquake like they did up north last week. That will be fun, they’ll have to build even more houses then.

Don't tell me: 3000 affordable houses built to minimum standards with tiny gardens to replace all the nice properties snapped up as second homes that normal folk can't afford anymore?

I think there are over 3,000 being built/planned for Bude alone.
A friend told me that  on one development of over 500 houses , over 90% were  sold to landlords.
It seems "Affordable" is a relative term which clearly doesn't apply to most folk currently living in rental accommodation in  Bude .
I delivered to a B&B owner who said she was told at an industry meeting recently that " Bude is set to be the new Rock, and prices are expected to soar" I bet they don't build a single new school , or improve the water supply/ sewerage provision.
