I try and clean my bird feeders every Sunday but I do miss a few I'll admit. The RSPB feeder I've got is great for cleaning though and it's all metal parts apart from the tube. I thought this would be great as it would last forever but now the plastic tube has a crack in it and they don't seem to sell replacement ones.
Same thing happened to mine. I wrapped it in sticky tape. So far, so good.
Am loving this thread, but feeling VERY curmudgeonly, this week as Hubby has now replaced 10 panells of next doors fence, grrrr, Lyn, have a rest wot!!! bubble wrapped one greenhouse this week, plenty of seed sowing to do, havent got all my plants in the greenhouses yet, and still got bulbs to plant, (need to go to Notcutts, gets more bulb planters) had the grandkids last week school hols, so not much done, 7 year old grandson told me he helped other grandad plant bulbs last weekend, so he came to Hilliers with me and chose, various tulips, crocuses, dwarf irises, and I chose blue alliums, only colour I havent got. There is maybe a few weeks without anything "gardeny" to do, but come January I shall be sowing my tomatos and peppers
We bought a massive wooden arch, and wooden gate, going to be customised and leading to a secret garden (ie no-where LOL)Hubby so busy with fence, before bad weather and heavy wind sets in, doubt if he will get the next patch of turf cut off, and arch up this year.
@wild edges Oh yes have been there and sadly will be more & more soon, as we had a lot of work done 12 years ago & its all wearing out in succession now.
Going back a bit to those cotton knickers for testing soil fertility, they've just discussed this very thing on QI, along with the bare bum test for soil tempertaure for sowing.
WE and AB - all taps in this house - except the current bath and shower - are new. I hope they'll last longer than 12 years altho if they do I may need to find a new plumber which could be a worry. The current one is very good.

I built my house in 2008 and moved in just before xmas so the taps haven't even had 10 years use yet. Sadly my plan to sell up and move on after 8 years just before everything broke never panned out

AND we paid out for a water softener & spend about £7 a month on salt to stop the limescale & still they wear out! The worst one has been the shower thermostat, the first one lasted 9 years, I have had 3 more since, two that failed just outside the guarantee period, hopeing this last one lasts longer as replacing the whole thing would involve a lot of work & re-tiling a wall!!!
Taps, aaagggh! We have one here, mixer tap, put in in 2009, been dripping for more than a year, can’t buy washers for them have to buy a new unit completely. There’s not much encourage to stop us becoming a throwaway society, makes me mad. 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
Well not too bad on the trick or treater front last night. Only a few young kids who were all very polite. I was expecting worse given it was half term as well. Maybe the rain put them off.
Now just a couple of weeks of fireworks to get through and it's a clear run to xmas.
