Lichen 'garden' on a wooden bench!

    Thanks, I enjoyed that.   :)

    I don’t know about the nitrogen dioxide causing yellowing.

    Not sure how quickly we can get some lichen growing by painting a wall with yoghurt though we have some already, nothing we could showcase.

    Lichens fascinate me ; apparently some co-exist in a form of symbiosis with algae .
    On bare rocks the algae dissolve the surface and convert minerals into a foodstuff sufficient to sustain both organisms . How amazing is that ?
    With over 20,000 species globally , they colonise inhospitable areas from the Arctic to the Antarctic .
    Quite a success story !

    I hate to disagree but I think that bench is horrible!  Presumably not for sitting on.
     If my bench starts going like that, I'm getting the scrubbing brush out.
